Security is an underlying feature of the Google Cloud Platform. Understanding how to secure applications and manage users is an essential part of working with the Cloud. In this Study Jam, students will get hands-on practice with GCP's Identity and Access Management service (IAM), which is the go-to for managing user and virtual machine accounts. Students will learn about various tools to help them secure their applications, and will explore using Virtual Private Clouds to further protect and connect resources.
For students new to the Google Cloud Platform, we will also be introducing basic GCP concepts, including using Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, and Load Balancers, and will get the chance to test their skills at the end with a challenge lab.
Study Jams are group learning programs designed to give students practical experience in Google Cloud technologies. Students come together to build their skills through interactive lessons and hands-on labs.
Upon completing a Study Jam quest, attendees earn a cool badge to show off their skills, and of course, it can be added to their LinkedIn profiles. Students also gain full access to Qwiklabs for up to two months, allowing them to explore the GCP and other Cloud technologies further until the next meetup!
Our tech leads are here to help! They can help guide you through labs, answer any questions about the content, and provide a more comprehensive overview of the content. Reach out to them in the Discord server.
Take the opportunity to discuss these topics with other members in the club. Get to know them, ask questions, and provide help. This is a great way to find potential team members for the Solution Challenge. Make sure to guide members to the correct solution rather than giving them the answer.
